How A Kid Locker And Chesler Construction Made A Big Difference

“It is an incredible fundraiser for a great cause. Rebuilding Together Peninsula helps families in need with home repairs they couldn’t normally afford,” said Chesler Construction Inc. President Jim Chesler.

Tomorrow at the Stanford Shopping Center in California, some of the most elaborate and intricate playhouses will be auctioned off with proceeds going to Rebuilding Together Peninsula. This non-profit organization is dedicated to rehabilitating the homes and community facilities of those in need from Sunnyvale to Daly City, California.

"We are fortunate to be in a trade where we have access to many talented people. It is only natural to want to help people in need," said Chesler Construction Inc. Vice President Terry Chesler. "This is our way of giving back to our community."

The donation rules are fairly simple. All playhouses have a maximum footprint of 8' x 10' and can be up to 10'-6" tall. Other than that, the sky is the limit when it comes to what you want to build. These impressive playhouses have been on display at the Stanford Shopping Center for a few weeks now and after tomorrow, Saturday, June 1, 2013, they will head off to the highest bidder's backyards where they will actually be used by kids.

“The most difficult part of the building is when it leaves us for a new home," said Terry. "Everyone who works on it has a sense of attachment and pride in the building."

This is the second time the good folks at Chesler Construction Inc. have built and donated a playhouse.  SDG Architects came up with a unique design that is certain to catch the eyes of sporting fans in this region.  So they asked SchoolLockers.com to donate some kids lockers to add a bit of flair to their entry which was a small playhouse version of a famous baseball stadium. Imagine if you were a kid; how would it be to have a miniature AT&T Ballpark (where the 2010 and 2012 World Champion San Francisco Giants play) for a backyard playhouse?

Preeeetty cool indeed.

"Each playhouse is derived from an idea," explains Terry. "It is a representation of somebody's dream of what they would want if they were a kid again."

"The last one was great but with the San Francisco Giants winning their second World Series in three years, we thought this would be fun. And it has been," added Jim.

"When we heard about this event from our SchoolLockers.com sales rep Ursula Schroeder, we were happy to donate a few kid lockers," said Jorgenson Industrial Companies President Dustin Jorgenson. "I have to admit being a sports guy; this was a pretty awesome idea for an entry."

"When I was growing up our playhouse was magical," said Terry. "This playhouse is like a dream come to life. The Giants theme is a local favorite for both kids and grownups and I can only imagine the good times that will be shared in this playhouse."

Since it is not unusual for some of these playhouses to fetch auction prices meeting or exceeding around $50,000, these spectacular and elaborate playhouses make it possible for a large amount of donations to help others in the community who need it.

Entry 3 Imagine the fun you would've had being a kid with a playhouse like this--?

"We are honored to be included as a donor for a good cause," adds Jorgenson. "It was really great to see this project come to life, and to know that someone will be able to have a locker in San Francisco Giant's Orange, and that another family somewhere else will be helped by this work as well."
