This team is fairly young in comparrison to most NFL teams. On October 26, 1993 NFL Owners unanimously selected Carolina as the 28th NFL expansion team franchise--the very first for nearly two decades of drought. Panthers Owner/Founder Jerry Richardson set a record as being just the second former NFL player to own an NFL team; alongside with George Halas wh owned the Chicago Bears.
Two locations for a stadium were originally considered; In North Carolina and South Carolina and it later wound up in Charlotte as their home yet giving all Carolinians cause to cheer a NFL team on!
