Meet Jeff. He is the man behind SchoolLockers.com line of premium wood lockers and wood laminate lockers.
"We’ve been doing this for 15 years so we’ve come across some pretty fun projects and anytime you push the envelope more you make it more challenging and we like meeting those challenges and it is a little more rewarding," said Artistic Building & Cabinetry Owner and Skilled Locker Craftsman Jeff Goodsell.
Since that time Jeff has been making wood lockers for SchoolLockers.com for quite awhile now. It all began when Jeff was a contractor and stumbled across a company that was going out of business. Thinking of an investment, he bought the company (which price tag was essentially the value of the machines and equipment) but then decided to cut the middle man out and begin making wood storage cabinets himself and eventually, making began crafting/building wood lockers.
"We had been making some super saver boxes in standard sizes for people to put in their mudrooms and things like that so it kind of went from there and that was the beginning of our line of wood lockers," said Jeff. "We did some storage units with bigger doors and we got a hold of one of your salesmen there at SchoolLockers.com and he brought our attention to a manufacturer and said would you like to compete with them and we said sure and we went back and crunched some numbers to see if we could turn out a superior product at the same price."
Turns out Jeff and his team of skilled craftsmen could and SchoolLockers.com couldn't be prouder for offering a stronger, more solid and beautiful wood locker on the market than any of our competitors! Why these wood lockers are nearly works of art.
"The craftsmanship gives that feel," said Jeff. "Over the past few years SchoolLockers.com and I have tried to do that as efficiently as possible by combining superior craftsmanship and affordability, so we’ve managed to keep costs down by mass producing a locker that allows the maximum best of both of these two factors."
But before you begin thinking that these wood lockers look like just about any other, well perhaps they do. But the craftsmanship and superior materials that you can't see are just below the surface.
"Our competitors use a little bit thinner wood than we do; we use 3/4 inch and they use 5/8 inch, so that little bit make ours stronger and can stand up to a abuse without failing," said Jeff.
This alone makes for a far sturdy wood locker. But turns out there is more to consider when buying a wood locker than just sturdy wood.
"The different types of wood that I appreciate working with is the alder, which is a softer wood so it is easier to work with and you can manipulate it so wonderfully. However maples are a personal favorite and despite them being a hard wood but when you get them finished and stained, the grains in the maples are probably my favorite."
These days beautiful solid wood lockers are the first choice when you are looking for aesthetics.
"You find these in a really high-end sports facility, a upscale ski resort and places like that because they will have a larger budget for those types of wood lockers," said Jeff. "We’ve even had projects where we’ve put them in homes for folks, right there in their fancier houses."
But suppose a client suddenly wants to add another row of wood lockers, or perhaps one of the locker doors suffered some extreme damage? Well, we can get you an exact match--even if it is years later when you need it!
"Our templates help achieve that. We keep templates of all the designs so that if a former client needs a new door for some years later, we can go back and find the exact same measurements, sizes and everything so if they need one, we can go back and then make something that will match it and swap that piece out," assures Jeff.
And that is what makes wood lockers from SchoolLockers.com the very best.
"There is great pride in all the lockers that we build and install. We do enjoy making sure they are fitted perfectly and the customers are extremely satisfied before we leave their facility," said Jeff. "Unfortunately when we ship them across country, we can’t be there for the final install and that is why we try to standardize them so much where anybody can put one next to another and the wood lockers can look great."
Take it from Jeff, when it comes to buying any type of wood lockers, your best bet is to begin--and end up buying--right here at SchoolLockers.com
"We do a much thicker wood than most of our competitors, we offer styles such as half-highs and different widths that they just don’t do and of course we do any type of custom work if necessary," Jeff assures. "We had a call this morning where we successfully talked a client in a different state through the installation process. It looked like they got six of them installed in about an hour or so—that’s not too bad!"
